Notable December 9th In History

1854 – Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” was published in “The Examiner.” His classic poem commemorates the courage of 600 British soldiers charging a heavily fortified position during the battle of Balaklava in the Crimea six weeks earlier.

Rotary Last Week – December 2, 2004

Former Charter Member Ed Hughes, presently in the Real Estate business, gave a most interesting presentation on negotiating. The same scenario used in real estate can probably be carried in most businesses (and private dealings) in life.

Paul Harris Fellow – Chairman Jack Emmer announced that Geoff Louis is now a Fellow!

Fruit Sale – Delivery time & date not finally determined. Very possibly could be after this am’s meeting. Hang in there!

Christmas! - Reminder - The Christmas luncheon will be held on December 16^th. ($25 per.) Jim Donnelly needs numbers and checks PRONTO! There will be no large raffle,

just the usual one. Fund raising raffle to be held later on. Also: Please bring a gift to wrap. (This is for the raffle.)

Dave Weyant said the “Bell Ringing” would occur on December 18 & 19 at Key Food. He

passed around a sign up sheet.

Jerry Sheehan’s Pushcart: – Extra! Extra! We still have Ben Birillo’s artistically created Statue of Liberty Scarves. With the holiday’s rolling around, they make a nice gift. All profits to the club! Get ‘em while they’re hot!
