Rotary Two Weeks Ago, June 23

(There was no meeting on June 30^th. It was replaced by the Installation of Officers 6/29.)

Major Tom Riffert, Town of Highlands Youth Football coordinator, gave an interesting overview of the program, including its timetable of 4 home and 4 away games. The program includes youths in the 5 –15 year old category but doesn’t include 9th graders. Last year they had 80 players. This has now reached 100. The Major said that a new, strong board, with new by-laws is in place, as well as a new coaching staff. (Great)

Forge Golf Course and the New Windsor Cornwall club has applications available for sponsoring two youths. And, there is a group study plan to visit Greece. (Non-Rotarians.)

Phil Brillante – Phil’s safety tip concerned new products, or MSDS and how to handle ‘Hazmat’ (Hazardous material.) This could include ingredients in such mundane items as tooth paste. Excellent brochure distributed!

Phil also introduced James Pierce, who will be the replacement for Dave Sutton as the interact coordinator at O’Neill H.S.

August 28^th 6 pm – Gus Fishburne’s trip awaits us, so plan for the annual boat ride at West Point. (Available to work the oars?)

The Holy Innocents Church thrift shop will be operating every Thurs. 10 am to 1 pm.

The Holy Innocents food pantry, 2nd & 4^th Wednesday of month.

Sacred Heart Thrift Shop open 10am – 2pm; (4:30 Thursdays.)
