David Green, Orange County Commissioner of Elections & Deputy District Governor, District 7210 was the Speaker. He gave us information regarding the new voting machines which will be replacing the old mechanical one’s in service since the 1870’s. There will be much greater accessibility to vote for handicapped persons on the new system. Chads will be replaced in the systems as well as the HAVA, which is the short name for punch cards. He said that the District Conference will be held at Glen Arden (Arden House) on April 25th. The District Gov. will be there.

 

Jerry Sheehan said that the group study exchange is at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel on March 24th, (1 day):  May12th is the Blooming Grove/Washingtonville Dinner dance; Jerry Also said that two local soldiers were killed in Iraq, and one female from Pennsylvania. They will be included in Jerry’s funding for their families via Rotary.

 

Phil Brillante’s Safety Tip: Phil, urged all travelers to have emergency “goodies” in their vehicle. Several roadway accidents, snow, etc. have caused long delays. Phil also said the Interact

“penny wars” are now ongoing, This is the last week to turn in your “coppers”.

 

Update on What’s Doing ‘round Rotary?

Sick members: Seth Hudgins is in a hospital in the State of Florida.

Dinner Theatre. The date and time of this event is:  Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m.

Kate Squiccierini will be subbing for Deb Zedalis while Debbie is away on business.

 

Holy Innocents Thrift Shop.  Will be operating every Thurs. 10 am to 1 pm.

The Holy Innocents food pantry, 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month.

Sacred Heart Food Pantry & Thrift Shop Open 10am – 2pm.

(Money will supplement food donations.)
