1886 – Statue of Liberty Dedicated:

In New York harbor, President Grover Cleveland dedicates the Statue of Liberty, a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States. It was proposed

by the French historian Edouard de Laboulay to commemorate the Franco-American alliance during the American Revolution.

 

Rotary Last Week – October 21

“Batten down the hatches, break out the long John’s and stock up on the firewood this winter” was the message that guest speaker Jim Witt, WHUD Meteorologist seemed to be conveying as he displayed a 19 Yr. Calender on weather patterns. These patterns, which are determined by the Moon, the planets and ocean temperatures, (La Nina & El Nino,

hot & cold) seem to be very predictable, allowing for 82% accuracy in long-range forecasts.

‘Walk To Iraq” – Kick off.  Oct. 28, 4-6 pm, West Point Ski Lodge.  (See flyer)

Fruit Sale – GOOD NEWS: Bill Stone said Florida has recovered somewhat and will be able to deliver! $23.00 per case. Stay tuned!

U.N. Day Tour –Young Rotarians –12/6. 

Phil Brillante will speak on interact.

Dinner Theater. – Still being discussed.

Christmas! - Reminder - The Christmas luncheon will be held on December 16th.   Help needed: Committee positions available There will be no large raffle.  Just the usual one.

Fund raising raffle to be held later on.

Jerry Sheehan Reports: – Ben Birillo’s  “Statue Of Liberty” scarf’s still selling.    (Proceeds to the club.) Jerry also has        shirts & jackets with the Rotary logo!
