Notable February 23th in History

1917 – Germans begin withdrawal to the Hindenburg line.   On this day in 1917, German troops begin a well planned withdrawal –ordered several weeks previously by Kaiser Wilhelm, to strong positions on the Hindenburg line, solidifying their defense and digging in for a continued struggle on the Western Front in WW1.

 

Rotary Last Week, February 16, 2006

This was the monthly business meeting: Much was discussed, including District 7210’s upcoming events, which are highlighted by the inter-city meeting on Tues March 7 in E. Hanover, NJ and will feature Rotary Int’l Pres.Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammer.

Treasurer Dave Weyant reports our club is in good financial shape. The James I. O’Neill H.S. Select Choir will be performing in Carnegie Hall in NYC and have requested a donation for that event. A Motion was made & seconded to donate $500.00. All in favor!

Theatre Party:  Remember, it’s Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Sunday, May 7th 2006 in Eisenhower Hall”. Show at   3 pm; dinner will follow at 5pm.  Tell your friends! This is the Club’s major fund-raiser!

 

The Holy Innocents Church thrift shop     will be operating every Thurs. 10 am to 1 pm.

The Holy Innocents food pantry, 2nd & 4th Wednesday of month.

Sacred Heart Thrift Shop open 10am – 2pm; (4:30 Thursdays.)

 

Jerry Sheehan’s Pushcart - Jerry says:

“Come on out now, the weather’s quite clear,

  And buy a shirt, while they ‘ain’t too dear!”

 

Other Clubs’ Activities

Rotary Clubs of Beacon, Arlington, E. Fishkill, Highland, and Poughkeepsie are hosting a concert, Viva V.E.R.D.I. – for pure water. Sunday, March 12.  845-473-2972
