Notable Historic January 22nd.

1901Queen Victoria dies; Ending an era in which most of her British subjects knew no other monarch. Her 63-year reign, the longest in British history, saw the growth of an empire on which the sun never set. Victoria restored dignity to the English monarchy and ensured its survival as a ceremonial political institution.

Rotary Last Week   

Jim Whaley introduced guest speaker  Col. Barney Forsythe, who gave a very interesting presentation on planning  a Military Academy in Afghanistan. Col. Forsythe spent 6 weeks in Kabul studying this. General Eichenberry is very interested in this idea.

Turkey Anyone? – Cathy Kelly said that E-mail from Turkey (the country) indicates that Rotarian’s in Turkey are interested in having visitors to observe how Rotary operates there.

Board meeting -  Next Wednesday (01/21) at the Highland Falls Library.

Mike Moss  -An art show is scheduled in Eisenhower hall –

Phil Brillante – Said that Gene Boleslowski is checking clubs in the area for the possibility of  a multi-faceted getting together with Florida clubs. Possibly in February.

Looking Ahead - Dinner Theatre – April 27th 2004 – “The Sound of Music”.     

Phoenecia Club – Sponsoring a ‘Winter’s weekend in the Catskills on February 8th.
